How to watch the Premier League online: Four live games available to stream this weekend

Our guide to watching Premier League action live in the UK and abroad

After another action-packed weekend in the Premier League, Monday Night Football sees rivals Fulham and Chelsea face off in a west London derby. The home side have made a steady start to the campaign, picking up eight points, while Chelsea’s return of five points from a possible 18 is their worst start to a season in 45 years. Coverage starts at 7pm on Sky Sports Main Event, with the game getting underway at 8pm.

Matchweek 8 will see strugglers Luton Town take on high-flying Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 7 October, after a midweek clash against fellow promoted side Burnley. The Hatters, who climbed out of the relegation zone with a much-needed win against Everton last weekend, will host an unbeaten Spurs team high in confidence after a controversial win against Liverpool. The action will get underway at 12.30pm live on TNT Sports.

That afternoon also sees Crystal Palace take on Nottingham Forest at 5.30pm on Sky Sports Main Event. The Eagles will be riding high after victory at Old Trafford and looking to bag all three points against 12th-placed Forest, who will be without centre-back Moussa Niakhaté following his red card against Brentford.

Brighton & Hove Albion will be hoping to bounce back from a heavy defeat against Aston Villa, as they take on Liverpool at the Amex on Sunday 8 October. A victory for the Seagulls would see them climb above Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking for vengeance after a wrongly disallowed Luiz Diaz goal cost them a result at Spurs. Kick-off is at 2pm live on Sky Sports Main Event.

The last televised game of the weekend pits Arsenal against Manchester City in a much anticipated top-of-the-table clash at the Emirates. Both teams will have their sights set on three points but after City’s shock defeat against Wolves, the Gunners might fancy their chances of leapfrogging the Sky Blues with a victory. The game will get underway at 4.30pm live on Sky Sports Main Event.

Sky Sports and TNT Sports are the two main broadcasters of live Premier League football in the UK during the 2023/24 season, with Amazon showing two rounds of matches live on its Prime Video service in December.

Details about the various ways to access their channels can be found below. You’ll also find information about the platforms that show Premier League games abroad and the best VPNs to access content anywhere in the world.

How to watch the Premier League: Which broadcasters will show games in the UK?

The Premier League’s broadcasting deals with Sky Sports, TNT Sports (the new name for BT Sport) and Amazon Prime Video will continue until the end of the 2024/25 season meaning you’ll need to subscribe to all three services if you want to watch as much live football as possible.

If you have to pick one broadcaster, Sky Sports remains your best bet as it has the rights to the largest number of games, with TNT Sports continuing to show the early kick-offs on Saturdays.

Details of how to subscribe to each service and the various packages available are provided below. If you live abroad, you can stream games live on NBC Sports in the US, DAZN in Canada and Optus Sport in Australia. All of the aforementioned services can be accessed while abroad using a good VPN service, like ExpressVPN.

How to watch the Premier League on TV in the UK: Sky Sports

If you’re subscribed to Sky, then you’ll need to add Sky Sports to your existing package. It will currently cost you £25/mth for a contract running 18 months. If you already have a Sky subscription, then you’re also automatically the owner of a Sky Go account, giving you access to Sky Sports, Sky Movies and other top channels such as Sky One and Sky Atlantic, along with Sky’s excellent catch-up and on-demand service.

There is a catch, however. Sky Go limits you to three devices, and you can only watch one of these at any one time. If you subscribe to Sky Go Extra, however, you can register up to four devices. This costs £5 extra on top of your Sky Go subscription. You can add and remove one device each calendar month, so if you’re likely to be following the action on multiple devices, make sure you’ve planned in advance which ones you’re likely to be using at any given time.

Sky Sports: Supported devices

Watching Sky Go on your Windows PC or laptop will require an app download. To run the app, your computer needs an Intel Core i3 or equivalent AMD processor along with Windows 7, 8.1 or 10. For Mac users, the Sky Go app requires at least OS X 10.9, whereas for mobile and tablet users Sky Go is supported on iOS 8.1 and above, Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich 4.1 and above, and all Amazon Fire tablets running Fire OS 3.3 and above. The service also currently supports Xbox 360, Xbox One and PlayStation 3, 4 and 5.

How to watch the Premier League online in the UK: Now Sports Membership

Sky Sports is your best bet if you want to catch as much live action as possible. However, if you don’t have Sky and want to avoid setup fees and a long-term contract, the best way to watch live streams of the Premier League, EFL Cup and EFL Championship is to get a Now Sports Membership (formerly Now TV Sky Sports Pass).

You have two options when subscribing to the Now Sports Membership:

  • Now Sports Day Membership for £11.98
  • Now Sports Month Membership for £34.99

Both these memberships give you access to all 11 Sky Sports channels, which means that you can watch Formula One, golf, and even American sports like the NBA and NFL in addition to the Premier League. You can log in to Now on up to six devices at the same time. It works on all devices including PCs, mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs and even games consoles. You can stream content on any two devices simultaneously.

The rebranded platform is part of the Discovery+ network, which is included with BT TV. If you’re an existing BT TV subscriber or have a BT Sport Monthly Pass, you can activate your Discovery+ subscription here. You can also access TNT Sports via the old BT Sport app, though this will be phased out at some point during the season.

New customers can check out the various BT TV packages available here, with fibre broadband and access to the TNT Sports channels currently priced at £47/mth for 24 months plus an upfront fee of £30. Sky TV owners, meanwhile, can add TNT Sports to their Sky package for £25/mth on a 24-month deal.

The simplest way to access TNT Sports, however, is by subscribing to Discovery+ Premium, which doesn’t require you to sign up for a long-term contract and costs £29.99/mth.

How to watch Premier League online wherever you are: Use a good VPN service

If you’re away from the country and want to follow the Premier League action live as if you were browsing from your couch, then your only way to do this is by using a virtual private network, or VPN. These cross-platform services fool your devices into thinking that you’re browsing from your home country even if you’re away. It’s worth noting that the further you are away from your home country, the slower your streaming speeds will be.

There are many VPN services, but the one we rate most highly for streaming is ExpressVPN. It’s fast and has previously been audited to prove that it doesn’t log or store any user data. You can install it on your PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices and use it on five devices at the same time, which is ideal for a family or a group of friends. Apart from that, it has a wide range of servers in different countries, consistently fast speeds and offers a 30-day moneyback guarantee so you can try it out risk-free.

Another recent favourite is Surfshark VPN. Unlike ExpressVPN and NordVPN, Surfshark doesn’t have any restrictions on the number of devices you can use it on. If you ever encounter a problem or need general help, you can contact its 24/7 customer support, who will promptly help you out. Despite being one of the newer VPNs on the block, it has an impressive set of features that will only get better in time. Best of all, its three-year plan is the cheapest we’ve seen.
